OK- So it's been awhile... So what?

Thinking of giving up the blog since I haven't posted in a very long time, I had a change of heart....

As I've been sitting here the last few days praying for a miracle and thinking that once again all chances of another Pennant and World Series appearance would be gone. Last night my prayers were answered!!! I pay all homage to the grand slugger Albert Pujols! My hero has extended the Pennant race for at least one more game. Last night at the bottom of the 8th, my Cardinals down 4-2, I saw no hope, none, not a even a glimmer of pine tar on a bat shining off Minute Maid Park's lights... I knew the plastic was already up in the Astros' locker room ready for a celebration. The NLCS Champs hats and t-shirts were out waiting. Waiting for the players to be covered in champagne... Angry and sad, I went to bed knowing it would truely take a miracle for the Cardinals to take the lead. Let alone off the closing pitcher Brad Lidge.... I wanted to sleep through the disapointment of knowing that my Cardinals, would be going home not for another game but with their faces buried in their hands of failure. I had been in bed no longer than five minutes still fuming of the 2 run homer by Lance Berkman that gave the Astros the lead, when I heard my husband running up the stairs... He bounded into the room and flicked on the lights standing there smiling, he said nothing and I KNEW! They did it! They took the lead. He turned on the TV just in time for the replay of the king slugger himself sailing one against the windows above the Crawford Boxes! It would have sailed right out of the park if the windows hadn't stopped it! The replay showing the slight smirk on Pujols' face that as soon as he hit it... He knew! With 2 runs down and 2 outs in the top of the 9th, it was truely a miracle! Albert Pujols had just scored 3 runs! All was quiet in the stands after that... You probably would have been able to hear crickets the rest of the game... St. Louis closer Jason Isringhausen needed only a few pitches in the bottom of the 9th to seal the Astros' fate. At least for Game 5 of 7, the Astros' crew can take down the plastic in the locker room and save it for another game.... Hopefully, til next season.

Of course the St. Louis Cardinals aren't out of the woods yet... They still have to face Roy Oswalt tomorrow and possibly another appearance of the Rocket, Roger Clemens. Let's hope and pray that they can keep the momentum up combined with home field advantage, they take another- two years in a row the NLCS Pennant and then the World Series!

GO CARDINALS!!!
