9 Days to Hotlanta

Early in the morning of Sept. 2, we'll be flying to Atlanta for a long weekend getaway, I can't wait... One of my best friends lives way down there, and we're going down to party it up! She's got the weekend all planned out, Friday night we're having a party at a local pub. The evite will read- the S&M Show (sara&maria). Saturday the tix are bought for an afternoon game to see the Braves at Turner Field. (Hey, M- Saturday night still has no plans)! and Sunday is spending the bulk of the day at the newly opened Ikea of Atlanta. YAY! O, how I love shopping for inexpensive Danish furniture while snacking on Swedish meatballs!!!

Ode to Waffle House

I'm sad that I'm just a week of missing the tribute to 50 years of Waffle House at the Coca-Cola Museum...

It would have been fun! Although, Walter and I plan on enjoying several meals at a WH while we're there. There's nothing like real "sweet tea" from a southern WH. You know you're in the deep south when there is a Waffle House on both sides of every highway exit ramp and a Kroger grocery store. Not to mention the occasional knock-off Huddle House or Krystal (wannabe White Castle for us North of the Mason Dixon). I love Waffle House, I love that I can have a quarter cheese plate scattered, smothered, covered, chopped, diced and chunked at any time of the day. If I'm feeling really adventure-some I can get it "topped" too. Sometimes, all I need is a bowl of Walt's Steak Soup or Bert's Chili..... mmmmmmmm I can hardly wait! I know that I can have all the WH I want here (there's three in Olathe) but there's nothing like the authenticity of dining at a true southern WH. www.wafflehouse.com

I'm sure you're wondering about my crazy facination for WH... Oh well, keep wondering!

I used to go to WH all the time when I lived in Joplin. And, my friend Alex and I got stranded at WH a couple of years ago out by the airport. We had to rent a room at the Super 8 and deal with it later.

WH is for kings and queens. All we have in Lawrence is iHOP. Bummer.
