Border Wars

It's not what you thought...... (and techinally there's no borders anyway, since both teams are in the state).

The ST. LOUIS CARDINALS- I'm so excited for this season I can hardly contain myself! The Inagural Season in the NEW BUSCH STADIUM and their record is already outstanding at 8-5, in the NL Central Division. Let's not forget Albert Pujols! Yesterday he hit his 4th homer in 4 consecutive at bats... AMAZING.

The KANSAS CITY ROYALS- Let's just say I'm a little dissapointed in this AL Central team. This team should be very promising this year considering the sluggers they picked up in the off-season. 15 Mark Grudzielanek, 11 Doug Mientkiewicz, and 16 Reggie Sanders. (2 former Cardinals) But adding sluggers doesn't do any good when the bullpen is so terrible. The Royals lack any good starting pitchers and the bullpen, well they should all go back to AAA. When the Royals start spending money on a good pitching staff they'll start to regularly win games. Then the big stadium rennovations might seem worth it to Jackson County voters, of which I am not....

Yes, I am a fan of both teams.... I was a Royals hater, growing up in St. Louis where we eat, sleep and breathe baseball even before spring training. The Cards have always been my #1 team, but living my adult life in KC and craving the baseball park, I started regularly attending the cheap baseball that is the KC Royals. I grew to love those underdogs despite the fact that they won over the Cardinals in the 1985 World Series... I was only 9, when that happened... Although it was a great injustice to the Redbirds, I don't remember much of it, except highlight reels they like to show everytime the Cards come to town and Kauffman Stadium turns a sea of red. And all I have to say about that is- Gee, when was the last time the Royals went to the Playoffs? That usually does the trick. To make this easy: NL -CARDINALS, AL -ROYALS, I can have a favorite team for both divisions, can't I? But when the Cards come to town, I put on my red and head to the K, to watch the Royals get destroyed... Any other game, I am a Royals fan with a hat and a tshirt for the many, many games I attend (i even went to the royals home opener). However, I am a Cardinals fan for everything else! My phone wallpaper is Cards, my cinema display wallpaper at work is Cards, my license plate frame is Cards, my front plate is a mirrored Cards logo.... The Cardinals will always be #1 with me. And if John Cusack can get away with the unheard of- being both a Cubs and White Sox fan, then so can I.
