Blueberry G3
I bought an old G3 iMac for my mom today. She'll love it! She's terrified of computers as well as her cell phone. She knows how to use the phone book and answer it. She even has the phone number taped to the front so she can remember what it is. She has voicemail that she even recorded an outgoing message, but she doesn't know how to check it. So don't even bring up text messaging. She thinks I'm really smart because I'm good with computers and electronic gadgetry. Funny. She had me fix their caller ID last time I drove home because the LCD contrast got all out of whack. My dad said it was broken. He's pretty much in the same boat. He used to build PCs and crap like that, but the technology got away from him... So, he tries to act all smart when he's using his XP Box, even though his body language and his hand movements on the keyboard suggest he's completely intimidated. He downloads every type of spyware software there is, because he's paranoid someone's out to get him. I agree that it's good to be safe on an XP Box, but there's also overkill... I've mentioned about a gazillion times, that he wouldn't need to worry about it if he had a MAC! Needless to say, my dad isn't very helpful to my mom in showing her how to (gasp) email. It usually ends up in an argument and she calls me for tech support. Ugh! So, I bought her this super easy machine still running Mac OS 8.5 so she shouldn't be intimidated by it. With my help she'll be emailing and online shopping like the rest of our modern society!
