I think my hard work is starting to pay off! I've been going to the gym every day and have been perfect with my eating... God bless 24 Hour Fitness! At least my personal trainer... He gave me a menu of things to eat for five meals a day, none of it is diet food. It's quite easy, really... The right combinations and frequent small portions seem to be doing the trick. After my Body Gem test my resting metabolic rate is 1720, just to sit on my ass all day at my computer. I have to eat at least that many calories a day just to function. I think that's good to know, it really explains why when I was limiting myself to 1200 a day, I wasn't getting anywhere but fatter! So as of today, I've noticed that my stomach is getting slimmer and my jeans are fitting better.... Finally, some results... Here's the lesson kids- To lose weight, workout everyday, eat small meals frequently and take lots of supplements!!! WORKOUT WORKOUT WORKOUT
So, today I'm getting new shoes. My shoes make my feet go numb after 5 minutes of cardio, and it freakin' hurts like hell! I know I can do better than 3 miles in 20 minutes on the elliptical trainer if my feet weren't killing me! I thought it was the laces pulled too tight and my feet swelling, but I've got them as loose as possible. Alas, they are still numb! Any suggestions? Today, I'm going to Gary Gribble's Running Sports, they watch how you run on a treadmill and find the right shoe based on your needs technically. Hopefully, they will be able to diagnose the problem. I'll prolly end up with some ugly shoe that costs a fortune!
To be continued....

My feet used to get numb when I first started working out on the eliptical too. I think it was because of the way I was moving my feet. It's not like running. Try to keep your feet as flat as possible, with your weight evenly spread from toe to heel. It feels strange, but see if that helps. Good luck!
thanks patti! i don't know what the deal is with my toes going numb! i am a runner and the ellptical is hard as hell to get used to... once i got used to not feeling like i was going to fall off of it, i figured out to keep my feet flat and try to keep them as far back on the pedal thing-ys as possible, but they keep inching their way forward.
i did buy new shoes yesterday... the place i went is great, they examine the wear pattern on your old shoes, and watch you run to determine the best shoe for stability and your running style. it turned out my shoes totally sucked anyway... they didn't have enough support in the heel, and the toe box was too narrow so that contributed to my feet going numb. we'll see how today's workout goes!
thanks for the advice, i'm happy to take any that you have!
