Zune’s Boss Steps Down. Is the iPod Killer…Dying?

and, and what's this about screens cracking?

  1. My favorite line-

Despite the heavy investments in advertising and marketing, Zune was received by consumers with indifference. A survey of 40 retailers conducted by Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster found only 8% of the sales people recommended Zune last year compared to 75% recommendation for Apple iPod, and that most of the sales people did not even know what Zune was or who made it.

Looks like the "iPod Killer" is killing itself. haha

  3. Looks like the story was debunked about the batter being behind the screen, which is causing the cracking. But my question is - then what is causing the cracking?

    iPod Killer... LOL!!!

Kudos for telling only half the story. Yes, the head of Zune is leaving MS, but he's being replaced by J Allard - the guy responsible for the 360s success. MS could be ready to take the Zune to the next level.

As for cracking screens due to overcharging - I'm calling BS.
What I can be sure of however is the number of cracked Nano screens reported online.

In the end it all comes down to personal preference. We have Macs in the house; not PCs. We're obviously not biased here, but I tried the Nano and hated it. The Zune just fits my preference better.

So, for $250 I'm happy with my 30GB Zune, and I'm sure that two years from now I'll be just as happy with that investment.

Likewise, I gather that two years from now - and $2,000+ later - you'll be just as happy with your 8GB cell phone...or ya know, $4,000+ if both of you sign the contract.
